Come and enjoy the luxury and privacy of the Historic 'San Jacinto Cottage'. This beautifully restored 1937 California Monterey Ranch Home sits at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains and is walled and gated for complete privacy on 1/3 acre. The home is located in the historic Tennis Club area of Palm Springs and is very walkable just a few blocks from downtown. Enjoy the sparkling salt water pool and private grounds. The home has 4 bedrooms and 4 baths - so lots of room for everyone. Centrally located walking distance to terrific shops, eateries and Museums. The home was originally built by the Pershing Family - General John J. Pershing, and has long been an oasis of relaxation and solitude in the desert. Over the years it has been host to numerous celebrity guests and international events. It is rumored that Gen. George Patton would stay here when in the desert as well as Hollywood Celebrities.
The large estate has over 2700 square feet of living space and is surrounded by 1/3 of an acre of sprawling grounds. There are 4 large comfortable bedrooms each with own private bath. Two of the bedrooms are ensuite, one of which is over 500 sq. ft. The main living quarters include a large living room with a wall of glass sliding door and chef's kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances. The home has been designed for indoor / outdoor living with french doors that frame the incredible mountain and/or pool views from virtually every room. The home has been extensively and lovingly remodeled and outfitted with top elegant and comfortable furnishings with early California Monterey furniture and accessories. All of the beds are premium quality outfitted with 100% cotton linens for all of the bedrooms and baths. Period paintings and artwork grace the walls and rooms throughout. Vintage Library and period details create an environment typical of early California desert living.
The outdoor space includes a very large and private backyard with expansive 1937 estate size 'Salt-Water' pool. It also includes a chef's barbecue and wood burning fire pit. A perfect place to view the beautiful starry nights in the desert.... There's also plenty of room for entertaining or just relaxing by the pool and enjoying your own private views of the majestic mountains.
The House is completely private and and remote yet walking distance to Downtown Palm Springs Shops and Restaurants. It is also very close to the exclusive Ingleside Inn and Viceroy Hotel. Peace and quiet with style and quality. The perfect getaway...
